Got this today. Now I will be able to really see what I'm doing. Got about a dozen watch projects to do.

I am honestly amazed at how you have room for that. My home workstation consists of a laptop and portable monitor propped up on old KitchenAid boxes and a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. All placed on my dining room table. 🤣

I feel your pain. My daughter is like the invading dictator of a neighboring nation. She’s keeps advancing the line and annexing all my spots in the house for her toys and art. The last battle was for my desk. To the victor go the spoils.

I’ve retreated for now until I can mount a proper offensive and reclaim the territories that rightfully belong to me. That being said, I’m currently relegated to a tiny 3’x2’ makeshift table. I always told my wife the old wooden crates would come in handy for something.

I had a man cave/room with a trophy case worth of collectibles and wall mounted memorabilia. Those remain but the room is now the kids’ playroom/art room/TV room. During the pandemic I was evicted from the main house and relegated into the garage, where it would be in the 40s during the winter and 90s in the summer. All working off of a fold out table we bought from Costco. I am grateful to back in the house. 🤣😂

My desk is usually quite messy, so this required some cleaning and rearranging. I also have a laptop, a 32 inch monitor, and a desk light on my desk top. This area is also my lab for my work. I added the monitor mounting arm that attaches to the edge of the desk, so I can move the monitor out of the way when I do not need it. I also changed the desk light to adjustable light that I can move in and out. I also need to get a new cabinet with drawers on wheel where I can put my tools collection, which is growing all the time. Now I have tools spread out all around me and it is not very convenient.

I've experienced this pain also prior to last year. Last year my daughter went away to grad school so I got some space back. Not all of it, because my wife claimed part of the space.

Oof, that’s rough. Booted from the casa.

We’ve lost the battles but not the war. Chin up, soldier! Fortune and victory shall smile upon us once again.

I’m glad you got some of your space back. The wife… that’s another war all together. Godspeed!

Yes, I want to know how working through the lens works for you.

I tried to use the microscope a little to take a movement apart and it will take some time to get used to. It is not as simple as it seems. Of course I can see everything much better, but trying to put the screwdriver into the slot, without my fat fingers obscuring the view was a bit of a challenge. It took a few tries. Also, tool and parts tray arrangements need to be different from what I'm used to. But, as they say, "practice makes perfect." So, I shall practice until I get it right.

Continuing my microscope trials. Today I was able to do something I was not able to do with my other magnification tools. With this microscope I was able to take out balance jewels and install them back without loosing the shock protection springs (incabloc on ST3600 and diashock on NH35). Before I destroyed several movements because those springs flew away.

But some things are easier done without a microscope. For example, putting on bridges and adjusting pivots to go into proper holes are easier with just a magnification visor. So now, I need to re-work my desk to be able to move the microscope in when I need it and move it out when I don't.

So, the adventure continues.
