Hello, I am new to watchcrunch and here’s hoping I get to learn more about watches and connect with other enthusiasts.
I used to think Chronographs are too busy, but I had a lot of fun turning the bezels on my Tag Heuer Aquaracer, and I started craving for the chronograph funcionality in my watch.
I was specifically looking for 1) automatic movement; 2) 12-hr or at least 10-hr tracking ability; 3) numerical dial because all my other watches had none; and 4) I wanted to find a lesser known brand watch that doesn’t cost a fortune.
After few months of eye shopping, I almost went for a Speedy, but then I noticed the Baltic Tricompax.
I ordered both panda and reverse panda to compare in person, and I personally enjoyed the reverse panada much more for its legibility & stern look. I have yet to receive my refund, but Baltic has been helpful and supportive of my return throughout the process.
Panda is absolutely beautiful too, but I had to look closely to read the time passed in sub-dials. I love the numerical 12, how the dial hands are different color in the sub-dial, and overall see a better harmony going back and forth between black and ivory color.
I use my chronograph function for few things. 1) When I start working, so I know when to stop (~8 hrs). And also to take a break after 3-4 hrs into working. 2) When I leave work, I turn it on and 2-3 hours after working if I’m still thinking about work, I tell myself to get back to my personal life. 3) I have a newborn baby. So when we start feeding or when the baby goes to sleep. I turn it on, and I don’t have to remember anything but to look back on my watch. I also love the second-dials moving together when the chronograph is on. The watch strap might feel a bit light & flimsy and I did too when I first got the watch, but it’s a great wearing experience and I haven’t been bothered at all by the metal strap.
My wife and I visited France for our honeymoon, and Baltic being a French brand also helps me remind myself of the good days & the loving husband I was during the trip. I also ordered the watch online 1 day before my son was born, and I plan to pass down the watch to my son when he goes to high school.
Any thoughts or reactions? 😄
What do you guys use your chronograph for?

Had an opportunity to see this in person, they are very cool watches, so congrats! Love that you are able to tie it back to your honeymoon. I love chronographs, but I would be lying if I said I would use one over a smart device in the home.

Thanks!! I didn’t know about it but saw that Baltic won the micro brand tournament you hosted :) I feel reaffirmed! 🤣

Great watch. Tried on the Panda in their showroom last year. Was very tempted. Maybe another time.
