Does anyone have any fun stories about the roundabout ways a watch came into their possession?
I recently sent this Yes watch in for a battery exchange. It was a gift from my brother, who received it from a family friend that's a collector. He didn't have much use for it and didn't want to 'go through the hassle' of getting it fixed (LOL, clearly not a watch guy), so he handed it off to me ๐.
I emailed the team over at Yes with a picture of the watch, and to my surprise, a nice fella named Bjorn got back to me with details about the repair and this note:
'Mitchell, wow! A true rarity, a classic from the very first production run back in 2000.'
Pretty freakin' cool, right? Suffice it to say, this watch has found a great new home and caretaker. I will definitely cherish my Y2K Yes watch for many years to come.

So I bought this Swiss watch that claimed it is hand crafted in Switzerland. I didn't believe it until when it arrived at the courier hub and sure enough, the sent address is from Switzerland. I tried it on and it was smooth and looked great. I was happy and on with my life I went, so I thought...
A phone call from the same courier company came the next week saying that there is a package from Switzerland ready for a pick up. I replied by saying that I have already done so. The customer service then told me that he was looking at the package with my name and mailing address on it. I went and sure enough, it was there, so I picked it up and came home and now I have two of the same item.
I contacted the company and told them what has happened and their reply was... They don't have a record of double shipping and no further action was required. I was floored and said my thanks and ended the conversation. My brother just happened to be visiting from abroad for his birthday... Yes you guessed it, a present for him.
@Amusa82 Amazing story! Iโm sure your brother was thrilled

Definitely
My wife and I were on a cruise stopped at the island that is reputed to be the legendary mythical home to the Minotaur, I noticed a watch shop ready to close for the tourist season did some browsing. Nice selection of many brands but I have been a Breitling fan for decades noticed a few models that I had not seen back in Toronto. The sales person tried every trick in her manual but I did not want the hassles of going through Canada customs. It was November when I was walking aimlessly back home one morning when I saw the same complication in a Breitling boutique that belonged to an acquaintance. Rumour had it that he was losing the country agency to some competitor. A discreet phone call to his head office and chat with his right hand man resulted in a 40% discount if I paid cash, tax was all in. It is a Transocean World Time watch that I love often wear it more than 10 years later.
Sheโs fixed!
