Sweet 35mm beauty that drives me crazy.

Although I really like the look of this little gem, it doesn't have hacking, nor hand-winding, nor a quick day setting function. Curiously it does have quick date setting. For these reasons I don't wear it. Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the movement?

Flip it over. If it's a 7S56, yes.

And also, there should be a quick date by turning the opposite direction in the middle crown setting.

Boy, my heart soared when I read your comment. No luck on the number on the case back. I've tried turning the crown in the opposite direction but no soap. I've actually heard of this before: that because there's only seven days, it's not supposed to be a huge inconvenience to keep spinning the time around to get to the proper day. I'll check out your link. I wouldn't even mind if,through a movement change, this became quartz.

That's a great idea. I have three old-school little Seiko 5s. They're pretty lousy watches but little jewels to look at. I'd love to get the 7s26 movements out and quartz in.
