Watch shopping in NYC…recommendations?

Hey Crunch fam- I’m heading to NYC this week and looking ng for a good place to buy pre-owned watches, I’m specifically looking for Rolex, vintage Rolex (vintage DJs), and potentially Cartier.

I’ve been through the shops in the Diamond district, are there better places to look with decent prices and trusted product?

Thanks!

Why did you spell looking like that twice?

That would be a typo.

Sorry I only buy new and online for the most part so far. Just getting into seeing watches in person first recently with the PRX moonswatch so I don’t have a lift for you yet.

You want to stay away from most of the stores at the diamond district on street level. Those guys are sharks - unless you know your watches, I’d suggest staying away.

WatchBox has a store on 57. I haven’t been to it, but perhaps it’s worth checking out.

Element in time, luxury time nyc, vis swatch (they’re more wholesale but talk to them on what you’re looking for), motion in time, watch lab. But dunno if they will have vintage. The vintage spots I knew closed during Covid.

Excellent, thanks!

Everytime I go to NYC I always go to Bucherer Timemachine (make sure you specifically search this one and not the regular Bucherer). The store is like being a kid again. 3 stories in NYC with basically every brand. Their pre owned section is definitely expensive but comes with a piece of mind.

I’ve never purchased a watch at this particular dealer but the service is incredible. Ask for my guy Wyatt if he’s in. He let me (insisted) try on insane pieces I couldn’t even afford just for fun. Also no pressure to buy.

Did you go already? I went over the weekend and I stopped by Yan’s antique jewelry in China Town. It’s gotten popular because of social media so the store was packed but they had a good selection of vintage Rolex, VC, and Cartier. Really reasonable prices. I didn’t get anything though.

I did! Didn’t go to the place in Chinatown tho but sounds interesting.
