A gorgeous morning on the Puget Sound and a grand setting for a traditional pilot watch from Dekla, a microbrand from Stuttgart, Germany. The Type A Flieger is built-to-order with a variety of options. This example has a bronze case (now with a patina from more than 3 years of wear), an optional blue sunray dial with old radium color numerals and handset, and the traditional flieger model number engraved on the side of the case. The crown is an onion version option and. the strap is an authentic thick leather with a signed buckle. The movement is an automatic Sellita 2824. (A hand-wound option is available as well.) The sapphire crystal is fitted with an anti-reflective coating on both sides and the caseback is sapphire as well. Finally, I opted to include the Dekla brand name on the dial. All in all it's a watch that keeps excellent time even without service since I purchased it. . Obviously, I'm very fond of it.

It does look like a product shot from the Black Forest. Amazing piece!

I know I sound like a shill for this tiny microbrand but it's simply that I think Dekla deserves far more attention than it receives. At significantly less than $1000, their pilot watches are a great value.
