60s aesthetics!

Walked past a local dealer only weeks ago when the glimmer of this dial caught my eye. Paired with the burgundy bezel it just looked fantastic. It was a must have going into the new year. No pondering on this purchase! Happy! Paired with a new 22mm newbuck strap to compliment the bezel and print on the dial. The original was a god awful strap with holes in it. This one definitely wears nicer.

That's a stunner right there.

I'm no fan of the original leather strap either. But not because of the holes. It's a "rally" style popular in automotive sports where wrist sweat is an issue. The holes in the strap dissipate the moisture. My objection here is that the watch itself isn't really suited to rally applications.

In my wife’s words the original strap “looks like a block of cheese”.. its uncomfortable as hell to! My new crazy horse tropic is doing the job nicely👌

LOL. Well, I can't argue with your wife's comment, especially for the tan version in a shade close to Swiss cheese. (For the original red/white/blue colorway the rally strap is black.) My only defense for it is that holes in rally straps are not designed for their aesthetic appeal, but for the cooling properties they offer in environments such as desert racing and off-road rallies. But as I've said, the Pan Europ is not an appropriate timepiece for rally use in any event. Use of the strap in this case is analogous to putting knobby tires on a Lexus.
