Not my first time posting about this, deleted the other one because I posted images of 2 different watches and mistook them for the same watch ๐
Anyways, I was wondering if anybody here has information about when this watch was produced, the movement etc.
I love vintage watches but iโm not sure if I would drop $150 on this and probably another $100+ for servicing.
Would love to get some opinions!

Just a heads up - I was looking at a few Newmasters within the last couple of months and came to the conclusion that a fair number of the watches that I was looking at were deliberately aged frankenwatches (mostly from the Indian subcontinent). Which was fine when they were priced as such but some were pretending to โoriginalsโ and were vastly overpriced.
I would get a look at the movement, try to identify it and compare it to photographs of the original Citizens from that period. Also the case backs were a bit of a giveaway as some sellers had almost sequential case back numbers for very similar Newmasters which was a big red flag.
I enjoyed the research and the detour but couldnโt get comfortable with any without handling them. At least you have that advantage.

Really appreciate the insight! Will have a proper inspection of the caseback and movement the next time I pass by the shop ๐

If you can post a picture of the case back (and if possible the movement too) as that is probably as helpful as seeing the dial.
I like the Newmaster sizing and styling which was why I got sucked in. Be nice if you can find a good one.
Not sure if you have seen this article.

Slightly different styling but the watch looks to be v similar in terms of specifications and age so the detail a pics may be of comparative help. Of course the watch you are looking at May have a replacement crown and/or case back given itโs probably c.60 years old โฆ

Oh I wouldnโt get too hung up about the comments on the movement being unreliable if you are only intending it as an occasional wear piece.
I have a jet rotor Citizen and, once serviced, it is great for occasional wear. But not sure I would be queuing up for one to use as a daily.
