First time trying to repair a watch. (Update: Couldn’t really remove all the rust but it’s running!)

My maternal uncle gave me this watch that he used to wear daily. It’s from the Tag Heuer 2000 series and has the model number WK1213 on the caseback.

It doesn’t keep time accurately anymore so I plan to change the battery.

I know that probably doesn’t count as repairing but the main thing that i’m gonna do is to get rid of the rust on the case using tools and help from another uncle on my dad’s side.

I really hope I didn’t/won’t screw up the movement or dial and I can get it back to how it used to be those many years ago.

All I can add is to be careful when working on the rust. Cover the crystal with some tape to prevent scratches. Also use proper tools and don’t apply too much force while working on the open watch case. Changing the battery should be easy. If you have some silicone grease then give the caseback seal a little treatment. Very nice of you taking care of his watch. Love this!
