Moment in Time

Is there a moment in time when you decide that you are finished collecting timepieces? The itch is still there. Regularly I look for new watches on the manufacturer sites and Catawiki. Bidding on the latter. But very content with my purchase from 2 months or so ago. The Citizen BN0230 Orca with a steel bracelet (for a BN231)

I know that there are people who collect to have a particular collection. Hunting for vinyl, there are certain labels that only existed for a brief moment in time like 99 or Ze, I made it a goal to own all of those releases. While hard, it’s not impossible….

Everything else I collect comes in waves… watches, while omnipresent in my life, are added/subtracted from my collection as opportunities allow. Right now I’m buying many new watches because the releases appeal to me. 3 or so years ago, I barely bought any new but did buy vintage because I met a couple of dealers with compelling offerings. I can remember at least a 5 year shretch when I bought nothing.

So suffice it to say… those who have a goal for what their collection should be have a way better chance of stopping than I do. I don’t have a goal short of enjoying any design and or functions I like.

My goal this year was to complete the Casio AE series. AE1000 till AE1500. I know there is a 2000/3000 also. But the most significant watches of this series, the 1200/1300, are the ones I would keep. Chances are that I would gift the others to family members in my 2nd country.
