Gold coated battery

I was replacing my Y911 battery and to my suprise the former battery was gold colored. I did a search and found some JDM Maxell battery labeled as gold coated. I am unsure if this is for matching the movement or has a functional purpose.

Gold does conduct electricity better than some of the other metals used, but the cost generally isn't worth the small bit of benefit.

I'd guess it's mostly to match the movement.

A cost accountant drilling into the numbers before the close of the quarter asks the battery channel manager and procurement agent why they are paying 40% more for batteries than last quarter... the only response offered back to him is: "I love gooooold."
