Safe Zone

Stupid question. If there's no date complication on a watch, is it safe to set the time at 9 am to 3 pm (especially on mechanical watch)? Thanks...

It’s safe to set the time any time on a watch. What are you asking?

No dates no issues

Yes.

  • It's safe to set the time at any time on a watch without a date complication
  • It's safe to set the time at any time on a watch with a date complication as well
  • It is NOT safe to use the "quick set" date change function on a watch with a date complication between the hours of 9pm to 3am.  And, if a watch stops between the hours of 9 to 3, you don't know if it stopped at 9am to 3pm or 9pm to 3am.  So, always set the time to 6:00 and then you're safe whether it's 6am or 6pm, and then you can use the quick set date change function safely

Hope that helps!

People said that it is not safe to set the time on mechanical watch at 9pm-3am because at that time the date wheel is trying to adjust themselves. Interruptions may cause malfunction in the long run. But if there's no date complication, no date wheel, is it safe to set the time at that so called danger zone...?
