Mako 2 Bracelet Upgrade

Pulled the trigger on the Long Island Watch bracelet for my Orient Mako 2. Nice upgrade for sure.

agreed. The replacement is much more robust and less clangy changly (those are real words I just made up 🤣)

I quite like my stock bracelet tbh, it’s very well made and comfortable, but maybe I got lucky. What’s interesting here is that because of the male end links the whole bracelet is essentially reversed.

I’m in two minds about it. Not least because if I wanted to order one, there’s the international shipping and taxes to think about.

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the stock bracelet. I grabbed this one because I had ordered the Long Island Bracelet for my Casio Duro and really liked the feel of the weight of the solid links and end links. I also prefer the screw pins over the pin & collar for the links.

This was all out of preference, not necessity.

I was just on the Islander site, and I have to say the links look… thicker as well as reversed. Not sure where I stand on that. I think I might give it a go one day, but the Orient bracelet is one of the nicest factory issue I’ve seen. Including the one on a 2009 Rolex.

I wouldn’t mind a better clasp mind you. Or a PO style bracelet with the more curved links. But even then… I have become oddly attached to this bracelet. (Despite having several nice Natos, and decent rubber options I have spent on… there’s just the way it looks on the bracelet.)

I wish these third-party bracelets came with female end links instead of male end links. It's already a big watch for the average person so adding to the lug-to-lug length isn't ideal in my opinion. Especially when the male end links aren't super defined and look more carved out, they don't really bring much to the look in the end.

I could be wrong but, they are female end links. They just aren't in the picture.

This is the stock hollow end link. The Islander is the same shape just solid. Is this male or female?

Nevermind. The Islander is different. Jeez! I'm sitting right here looking at it, you'd think I'd see the difference. LOL.

I have big wrists so the male end link doesn't bother me.

Looks good! Has the watch been running okay for you since the other day? Was it just a matter of not being wound enough?

It's "glitched" twice but otherwise has run good. The glitches were it just stopping for a few hours then as soon as I pick it up and set the time it runs great. When I wear it that never happens. I'm gonna chalk it up as it having character. 🤣
