Seiko 5 Sports Superman 5KX

An entry-level Diver watch from Seiko 5 offering, with an obvious inheritance from the heavy cult-following Seiko SKX007 series.

Not necessarily possessing all perks or criterias to be an orthodox diver watch, but definitely it looks like one, following with modern and contemporary interpretation of a sport/everyday watch without the need to break the bank.

It is definitely an easy first choice for new watch collectors to kick off with their watch collections.

Great watch for everybody, very good choice as a base model for Seiko modding as well!

Yup, exactly!

While I do not have one of the SRPD dive style Seiko 5s, I do have an SRPG35 and an SRPH33 that I am really enjoying. Seiko 5 is still an easy recommendation to give someone new to collecting watches, even if there might be better options pricewise compared to the new Seiko 5s, like Orient.

Overall I would still prefer my Orient Kamasu over this. The finishing, quality and looks are miles better, and considering that Seiko is marking up prices due to its popularity, it is no longer the best deal in the market. That being said, Orient is the new Seiko.

Like you said, it's an easy recommendation for new collectors to buy Seiko 5s, and I agree with you. Seiko is already a renowned brand with heritage, it easily gives new buyers confidence in the brand and product.
