Sometimes it's the imperfections that make something perfect

My Grandfather taught me everything I know, tying my shoe laces, riding a bike and telling the time. In fact he used this very watch to do so!

After many years it now falls into my hands, dings, scratches and scuffs from a life well lived..just looking at the watch makes me emotional.

It's kickstarted a new and exciting hobby for me, with me now owning several watches but this one will always take pride of place in my collection so that hopefully one day I can pass it on once again, with memories and adventures attached of my own

Can't do that with an Apple watch! Just like those MoonSwatch's, they are disposable. Do you know where he bought it from, or what kind of store? There are plenty of watches out there that will outlive their owners, it's just a shame that the majority of people don't understand the difference with 'proper watches'. I shouldn't use that term, but it's true to me. I do include Quartz that's made by a known and reputable brand. My Bulova Lunar Pilot has not dropped a second in 3 months!

Hey!

He bought it from an Army Officer when he was stationed in Borneo in the late 60's, which only adds to the story really!

It's got a lovely mechanical movement that still keeps accurate time to this day, it's an AS 1690/92 Movement after doing a little research but I cannot for the life of me find a model number for the watch beyond the fact it's from 1968!

That's an awesome back story and yes it does add to the value. If only it was a Seiko - everything is available online about those. Doesn't matter, you can keep on looking or just revel in the info that you have - and enjoy your vintage piece!
