The Divisive Charm of Marmite Watches
Much like how the savory spread elicits splitting opinions, some watches are more than capable of capturing this Marmite-like reaction among enthusiasts.
Whether it sparks from a unique design, unconventional functions, brand reputations, or material choices, there is something extremely polarizing about divisive timepieces.
Take the DW290 for instance.
I get different reactions from friends and family. Some adore it, others want to chuck it in the bin.
I find it amusing at first, but then curiosity gets the better of me.
Why is it that this watch (and others) can spark such different opinions?
Is it historical value? cult following? distinct design?
Another fitting example would be the Invicta Pro Diver(s). From my research, people either salivate or light up torches and pitchforks whenever they appear.
You see, when it comes to these Marmite pieces I believe there's something powerful.
Something deeper.
Something beyond mere facts and culture.
Something that makes people decide within microseconds whether or not it's worth a second look.
And this hidden aura is low-key the driving force that ultimately makes people go:
"Yeah, I'll try it out."
I mean, I can't truly put my finger on what that is.
It certainly made me buy the Casio though.

Great phrase to coin; Marmite reaction. I can't say I am attracted by this watch but would buy one and wear it if needed so not really a devisive reaction on my part.
I would say Tom Cruise garners a Marmite reaction from a lot of folks so the watch seems appropriate for him to wear.
