But is it a welcome one?
As a Casio enthusiast, nothing pleases me more than the opportunity to try new models - whether its the age-old classics or the lesser-known.
Usually, the former brings consistent results; they tick all the boxes. I mean they’re fan favorites, so you don’t need to wonder why. An easy example would be the DW-290 “Mission Impossible” model. I bought one a few months ago, and it dethroned a G-Shock as my go-to beater.
But to my surprise the venerable AE-1200 (at least the full resin model) left me quite conflicted.
On one hand, its comfy and Bond-like. I feel like a spy whenever I dawn one.
But on the other, the shape is a bit too square-ish for me, and I don’t know why but I repeatedly have to set my time zone.
The damn thing kept jumping across the globe from where I am.
Maybe its just this specific model. Or maybe its just me. Or maybe some of you have experienced something similar: a cult classic being a bit of a let-down.
What do you think?

Odd that it switches time zones.
None of my world timers have done that.
Regarding shape, I really like it.

My brother was kind enough to lend me this for a day. Perhaps its a factory defect. Anyways, I’m just glad I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
And as for the shape, its just my personal preference.
