Louis Erard

Anyone owned/seen a Louis Erard in person? What are your thoughts? I'm not into their crazy designs but some of their classic designs look really solid, I just can't find a local vendor that carries them. Would love more info!

I like Teddy's youtube channel but don't think I'd ever buy from an auth dealer at this price range. Grey market or pre-owned is where I look unless I'm going to spend several thousand.

Their regulators are what they’ve been known for. This is a classic one I got that was NOS. Very low profile on the wrist, feels architectural with its simplicity. There are a bunch of fun details such as the beading around the bottom dial and the main dial, the sunburst top dial, and the reflective copper hands. This one does also have a display caseback. Their newer dials are now phenomenally funky. I’m pretty sure they’ve used a lot of base sellitas so you’re getting great Swiss workhorses at a good price. Especially if you find an older regulator in great condition- usually under $1k. I’m looking at their new ones but the 42mm + lug shape pushes me off a bit. This one I got is a 40 with shorter lugs and fits oh so nice.
