I got this for my dad from an online auction and I've been wondering whether this timepiece is authentic. I've compared it to this site but it has a Tissot movement, but mine has a Blancpain 17 jewel ref 620 movement (I couldn't find this online). I don't know much about Moeris brand, but apparently they were a part of the same company with Blancpain and they were later passed to Tissot. Can someone help me verify the authenticity of the watch? Thanks heaps

It looks to be a pocket watch from the 1980's or 1990's that is styled like it's a pocket watch from the 1870's. So, it is "fake" even if it is "authentic" and vice versa. The movement looks to be older than the rest of the watch. But, that might mean that it was just sitting on a shelf for years.
As long as you didn't buy it thinking that it was a 19th Century timepiece, enjoy it.

Thank you for your information. So to summarise, it's "fake" due to the 19th century case style even though it is an authentic 1980's watch? 😂 I am confused now. At least the movement is legit right?

We would call it a homage today. I hope the movement is really what it purports to be.

Yeah, one can only hope.
