Would love to hear the story

This one starts about 4 years ago when I was a new engineer at a small civil engineering firm. One of the Professional Engineers had a Rolex Submariner and wore it everyday. The watch’s proportions, meticulous attention to detail, and infamous name on the dial intrigued me and I told myself, “when I get me P.E. license I am going to buy that exact piece.” 3 years later I started doing research and learned these pieces are highly sought after and nearly impossible to get at retail. There was no way I was not getting this on the grey market so I visited 2 ADs, multiple times trying to establish a relationship and get my name on the list. Never heard anything. On February 9, 2024 scheduled an appointment with new AD and told them my story. When I went into the AD the experience was about the same. I tried the Rolex Submariner on, asked them questions about the watch and history and had a really good conversation. I figured at this point my odds would be better since I’ve added another AD to this list. About 30 minutes into looking at the Submariner and admiring it’s quality the Rolex associate I was working with walked to the back for a moment while I spoke with the manager about my family and experience with watches. Nothing felt out of the ordinary, until the Rolex associate walked back and while I was holding the Submariner she asked “if I were to offer you this watch right now would you be interested in purchasing it?” With little hesitation I told her “yes!” All of the waiting and talking with different Rolex associates was over. This is my one stop shop for all jewelry purchases in the future! I understand ADs cannot control this and they get pieces as they are allocated, but this was my first Rolex and without every stepping foot on their store before I was offered one.. I felt special. The experience made me feel more connected with the piece and the associates than I ever thought possible. Everything came together and I felt special to them. I don’t know how much research or background checking they do, but it made me feel like they did their research on me and felt as if I was “worthy.” This might all be a figure of my imagination, but it all made me feel more connected.

Great story. You are definitely one of the lucky ones. Congrats on a great piece and a forever keeper 👍

My first Rolex story was similar to yours. My second watch I bought was a similar Submariner that you have. Great story.
