Tricks of the trade

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before but for those of you who are new and are starting in modding. When it comes to bezel insert replacement, don’t take the bezel off! Just soak your watch in this over night. Fill a shallow dish to where when your watch is upside down, the insert is submerged. Careful, if your watch is not intended to be in any water you don’t want to do this. Anyway, so far I have yet to have an insert I couldn’t get off with this method other than some Vostoks. They use real permanent glue on some watches. Anyway, enjoy!

When you do this, you're just soaking the bezel right? Seems like a bad idea to submerge a watch in solvent (even if it has a good WR rating). Ever damaged a crystal or the finish?

Done the same with the Mrs nail varnish remover, watch face down in just enough liquid to cover the bezel, left it for only 10 mins max. Came off easily. 👍🏻

Yes, hence the shallow dish. Just enough to get the bezel covered plus it’s non toxic

This stuff is also non toxic and doesn’t smell up the room.

The acetone was rather stinky and probably wasn't the wisest stuff to use, but it did the job.

Thank you for the tip, I'll know next time.

Cheers 🍻
