Felt too light and too disposable for me. They look cool, but I think it would just feel like I got snookered away from spending my $300 on a more substantial and unique microbrand offering at close to the same price.

"More substantial" in what way? The MoonSwatch is not and was never intended to be an everyday watch.
I get the reasoning here, but disagree. To me it’s just a cheap watch, the kind of thing you buy for fun. The reason I like them is that I never saw them as high quality, just something with the basic look of a Speedy buy in fun colors. At that price, I don’t expect high quality. While I have a Speedy, I’ll never have one of the more interesting ones. No gold or colored dials for me, they’re just too expensive.
What I think ruined the whole thing was how scarce they were. I know it’s great for Swatch, but I get why it’s turned enthusiasts off. I never got one because I can’t be bothered to stand in line or come to your store 37 times hoping you have a watch for me.
I picked up a pagani design speedy homage to lure my kid into the possibility of actually wearing something on his wrist. While it’s definitely no omega, I have a hard time imaging buying a plastic swatch homage over the stainless steel and saphire PD homage. ….and that’s not even considering that the PD is 1/4 the price of the plastic Swatch.
Awful things - or rather the sales techniques. Shows nothing but contempt for us watchaholics, telling us they'd be available online then changing their minds. As a Brit my only option is London, and I'd not go anywhere near that horrible cesspit!
