Tool watches - are we being Had?

So I know the SKX of old is generally seen as the go to dive watch.

However I’d like to present the above dive dynamics (now DiveX) watch from my native Scotland.

Does everything an SKX does at 1/2 the price & is used in the commercial dive industry.

Is it winning any points for looks or movement , no probably not. But I’d hazard that most commercial divers don’t care too much about aesthetics or movement.

But care mostly about rugged reliability & water resistance.

Ps: I’m not crapping on the SKX here as I also own one.

Yeah, we're a funny lot. If we wanted actual tools we'd all be wearing GShocks , dive computer or smart watches. It's more about the illusion of toolyness, and Seiko have nailed that image thanks to advertising, brand history and perception amongst us enthusiasts - tho there's better out there as you've proved.

Cool watch, "proper" tool for us WIS 👍🏻👍

Just being a devil's advocate, but some might say they are paying for something that isn't made in the same factory in China, with small changes for brand X.

Here's almost the exact same case, prolly same movement, looks like similiar hands/lume. Lil bit different dial add ons to be honest....🤏🏻👀😂🤙🏻
