Building a personal compendium of Rolex, Patek Philippe or Audemars Piguet timepieces may seem harmless, but how can a collector avoid this hobby from becoming an unhealthy obsession? Tatler talks to those in the know
"A collector understands the timepiece, appreciates its craftsmanship and, most importantly, knows when to stop buying more."

What is this "stop buying more" you speak of?
I welcome "unhealthy addictions and obsessions"; not just watches: alcohol, cigarettes, cars, fishing rigs, firearms, and food. 😮
I'm allowing my collection to get to 20 pieces (not including my G-shocks and beater watches). After that, it's like TGV says, blood in, blood out. If I want something new, I have to get rid of something (or things) of equal value. I'm 10 watches away from my limit right now. Pray for me 🙏😅. It helps if you have a large collection of straps and NATOs to keep things fresh.
