I was at a bar and I noticed this cop had a watch on and I had my small seiko 5 on and I ask him what is he wearing and he tells me it’s a long John lmao I looked at it and I said oh you mean a longines lmao

This goes back to the poll on how to pronounce Longines.

I will call it LONG JOHN from here on out.

Funniest part to me is the cop not wearing a G-shock...

You'd be surprised tho, been seeing a TON of Vaers in the wild amongst MIL/LEO types of late. Their newer "tactical" (🤔 it's just black) variants.

PTL it wasn't an apple....🤪

I met a Swiss gent ages ago when he was the country, Canada agent for Breitling needed to call the police for some assistance at his downtown Toronto retail boutique, one of the officers ended buying a Chronomat( cops make decent incomes) but over the course of a few months returned the watch to have the broken dials replaced under warranty on several occasions. I was in the store on one occasion when he returned to pick up his Breitling had on a solid gold Brequet perpetual calendar watch that retailed for around 30k at the time(1990s).

I'm a defense attorney, so I watch a lot of body camera video. Lately I've found myself trying to ID the officers' watches when they're not obviously a G-Shock. I'm sure they make the most sense given the job, but I've only seen a couple who weren't wearing that or an Apple. Would love to spot a Vaer or Longines in the wild.

A lot depends on the area too. I'm not saying it's a huge percentage of officers, G shock and Apple are still the most prevalent. But the first Vaer I've ever seen was worn by an officer. Noticed it, and asked, think it was the C5 tactical? Next month spotted the same on the wrist of an Army EOD tech. They must've had a sale.... 😂.

I've started paying way more attention again since becoming more active on here too. Someday I'll figure out how to get watches in the wild pics, that won't be awkward.

On a side note, come across some Casio Duros as well.
