Heard of vintage Paul Jobin?

I picked up this Paul Jobin branded Watch about 20 years ago in an antique shop.

I don’t know much about it except that it’s a beautiful watch and feels like real gold (no expert here).

Anyone have any experience with this brand?

It appears that the Jobin family has been associated with clock making since the 1750's. They were originally from the Canton of Jura. Some branches of the family made cases, others worked on movements. One developed the Caliber 135 for Zenith. There are many brands associated with Paul Jobin, his brothers, and his sons. The company that made your watch seems to have existed as early as 1911 and went dark around 1970. I couldn't find an endpoint for them.

If you open it up it will probably contain a A. Schild or FHF movement. It looks to be from the 1940's. The exact movement should give you a more narrow range. I suspect that the case was plated and someone polished it back to brass at some point. It would be heavy, but not quite as heavy as gold.

Thanks- good to know. I did look to remove the case back but my skills weren’t up to scratch (or should I say a high chance of a scratch).
