Smart or Not?

I am trying to understand something. I was gifted a Tag E3 but obviously love my watches. My question is where is the balance? I like the concept of a smart watches. For instance when I leave my phone at my desk and get a message or a call it alerts me. Those kinds of things. But I have invested time and effort passion and love into my collection and feel like that is being sacrificed for a simple convenience. Honestly if it was an apple watch I probably wouldn't use it except to workout and even then I have my Garmin. Does anyone else struggle with this? I like the convenience but love my watches. I have started to only wear the Tag at work and change in the afternoon. Something still seems missing. Am I alone on this? lol or just crazy. No, I refuse to double wrist not happening.

I'm new to the world of watches, starting last year, and it all started with a Tag Connected E4. Basically I wanted a smart watch for heart rate monitoring , but something that looked like a real watch (analog), and I'm not a fan of Apple. The Tag Connected E4 fits that very well, much more like an analog watch than anything else out there, and it does a good job of it (definitely not on the level of a Garmin, which I did consider). After that I decided I wanted to try a true analog watch, and from there it was just a snowball effect. I now have 10 watches, and almost never wear the Connected unless I'm working out, or doing something that I'm worried might damage one of my better watches, which is rare. So for me this all works. I have the Connected when I want that heart rate functionality, and for everything else I have the rest of my collection.

Awesome! yeah the fun is wearing off (no pun intended) but the simple things at the office from a day to day lol.

I have the same struggle. I bought a TAG Connected (2nd Gen) and tried to love it but I grew tired of the concept of a watch that basically did what my phone did, but worse. I sold it after about 18 months.

A couple of years later I bought a Montblanc Summit 2 and ended up at the same place - sold it. I recently picked up a Summit 2+ for a fantastic price - I don't feel so invested in that one as it cost £350 and had only been charged twice previously.

The whole Smartwatch concept feels a bit pointless to me TBH even though I've now suckered for 3 of them. I wear my Garmin pretty much 24/7 anyway. It lasts 2 weeks per charge and is much better than any other Smartwatch for tracking runs and rides.

With a smartwatch you are always connected and everyone has access to you without exception. If you are always concerned with heart rate your micromanaging something that has been going on by itself for a millenia. Better to get a real watch and go touch some grass while listening to birds or something in the real world.
