As I understand it, and I have avoided vintage for this and several other reasons, there are a flood of ‘Frankenwatches’ that come from India. I have no firsthand knowledge of the amount of bad rebuilds crafted out of miscellaneous parts and repainted dials that potentially exist. However, knowing it is a commonly talked about problem that I’ve seen mentioned on watch forums, I would not be comfortable buying anything like this. I just don’t think the risk is worth it, unless the reason for the purchase is to tear it apart to investigate.

Believe it or not they get a quite a few of them on Shopgoodwill.com . You bid on them like eBay but they have them all the time.
