I buy watches because I like them! nothing wrong with Rolex, unless you dont own one and you can't get one, then that can be frustrating, but I'm fortunate enough to have a great rep-or with 2 ADs is it the best watch for the money, absolutely not, is the best watch that holds its value absolutely yes. Moser hands down, JLC hands down, even some Tudor are better internally than Rolex in that price point. omega has better movement in my opinion, you like what you like.

But if you think it's BS (which I agree with) you could just go for a watch brand that keeps stock and also has prices that aren't massively inflated.
