Magic trick repair?
Is there a magic trick to make sure this string doesn't unravel further? I fear a knot will not be enough.

I used that on thread wrapping bamboo flutes to keep them from cracking.
Is there a reason the old melt method isn't being used?
I'd try a little touch with a lighter or super glue.
