Some very special Bulgari models

This was a private event at Bulgari Bond Street. One off pieces, limited runs and ‘price on application’ were the order of the day. The jewellery upstairs was insane. Necklace, ring and ear ring sets at £9m. All for the person who can’t stand the idea of running into anyone else wearing the same thing.

First up! The Octo Roma Papillon Central Tourbillon. A manual winding, central flying tourbillon, indicating the minutes with two 18 kt rose gold Papillon (French for butterfly) hands. There’s also a 24-hour jumping hour display that uses a disc on a ceramic ball bearing. An incredibly rare piece.

Next, a malachite Octo. Malachite is a green stone that really pops against the gold. This I believe is part of Bulgari’s Maestria series, where customers can create bespoke pieces. Of course it’s also got a tourbillon for good measure.

Then, a sapphire and gold cased Octo flying tourbillon. Absolute madness.

Finally, a more reserved blue dialled, platinum perpetual calendar. I absolutely love that a precious metal perpetual was the conservative option in the store. Any other brand and you’d have the perpetual line right at the top. This is a comparative bargain!

£250,000-£1m were the figures going around for the bespoke pieces, depending on customisation. These feel like the watch version of Lamborghini design language to me. Two Italian style icons.

Bulgari is one of those brands that I always forget about, and then when I'm reminded of them (like with this post) I quickly remember how awesome their lineup is👌
