The best watch to wear in the workshop!

When one thinks of a beater watch for use in the workshop or while doing household chores, G-Shock usually comes to mind. However, they are not as practical because they can be a bit cumbersome when trying to reach in to screw something or extract a piece from a very narrow space. Additionally, sweat lingers on the strap, leading to discomfort and eventually you end up taking it off.

A few weeks ago, I received my #escapementtime watch that I had purchased because it was very similar to Hamilton's Khaki Field but significantly cheaper. I swapped out the NATO strap for a tan StrapsCo leather one, and to my surprise, it turned out to be the best watch for chores. It's very slim, with a sandblasted finish on the case that resists scratches, always on time with its mecaquartz movement. I truly recommend it as a watch for tough tasks.

Looks great! I have the Hamilton, and I'd be worried about damaging it for really heavy duty repairs etc so you're onto something there!

My preferred beater. 36mm, excellent lume, thermocompensated quartz movement, 300m water resistance (and no lume pip on the bezel, just to annoy the dive purists), tough as old boots.

The dial is also a nice pool of lacquered blue which puts a smile on my face.

And at $40 you just don’t care if it gets damaged. Strap is almost the same price! 🤣

Exactly, that's a great purchase you have.

This is the one Hamilton growing on me over time. Not as played out as the prolific Khaki Automatic, which is an awesome design, but it seems to be in every other collection.

I've had mine a few months now. I'd recommend it to you if you can be happy with the simplicity of it. It's not flash, just accurate, handsome, and reliable. And a lot less common with the white dial.

I often struggle to justify using one of my watches as a ‘beater’ if it costs more than an undetectable draw from my bank account. Hence…I choose to wear the likes of this.

My favorite beater…and it does take a beating! Titanium Tandorio with sapphire and a nylon/Velcro strap. Light as can be, easy read.

I just received mine in black. Beautiful watch and a typical amazing bargain from Escapement Time.
