The First Watch I Gifted My Nephew

Hi Crunchers,

I wanted to share this awesome story with my watch family. So we took a big family trip to Disneyland last Friday (12/15/23) and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to gift my 8 year old nephew his first timepiece. I mean, we were going to Disneyland so what better watch than a Mickey watch right? He absolutely loved it. I set the time in front of him and put it on his wrist and seeing him wear it with such enthusiasm made me a very proud uncle. I myself do not have children “my wife and I are hoping to conceive in 2024”, but if we never end up having kids, I want to pass down my collection to my nephew.

During the day at the park, it was so fun watching him check the time “yes, he knows how to tell the time perfectly.” I would also ask him every once and while just to keep him on his toes.

Do you want to know the best part of gifting him the watch was? Was that he was still wearing it the next day when we all had lunch together. Obviously I expected him to wear it on the day we were at Disneyland, but for him to wear it the next day was confirmation that I got him hooked! My sister even said that when he would wash his hands, he would take the watch off so it wouldn’t get wet haha.

As he gets older I want to gift him more pieces. He’s only 8 and right now and he’s really into dragon ball z. I’m looking at getting him one of the pieces from the DBZ Swatch collection to keep the interest alive.

My dream is for one day he will be buying himself his first Rolex, Omega, etc… and he says “I first fell in love with watches when my uncle gifted me a Mickey Mouse watch at a family trip to Disneyland.” ❤️
