Applied logos. Why don’t ALL luxury pieces have them?!

So, I recently purchased a Speedy Racing 40mm ref. 326.30.40.50.01.001 in a black dial. And so far I LOVE IT! Now, it’s not the perfect watch “in my opinion a perfect watch doesn’t exist” and I do wish there were changes to some of the aesthetics, primarily to the printed omega logo. Idk about how the rest of my crunchers feel but I think that any luxury Swiss watch brand should always have an applied logo “design allowing of course”. I just feel like that beautiful crown above the Rolex name or that awesome Omega Greek letter should always be applied in beautiful polished stainless steel. Idk, am I being too picky or do I have a point? Let me know on the comments.

-Stay crunchy 🤙🏻⏱️

In some cases it is fitting it on the dial. Also, the hands have to clear it as well, so for some it is a function over form situation (see the Nauitlus for example). I love an applied logo, but it has to work with the over all aesthetic. Does it look better than printed? Absolutely.

But even a thin applied logo is better than a printed don’t you think?

Aesthetically? Yes. Functionally? Unsure. Some materials are extremely difficult to bond to.

If they can put an omega on the moon, they should be able to figure out how to apply a logo to a dial. 😉 lol

I don't think there is anything wrong with printed or painted logos. I'm okay with stylistic differences among various types, brands and designs of watches.

It all depends on the watch to me. In general, applied indices or logos are cool...but on more of a historic tool watch like the Speedy Moonwatch, no. I like the simple printed dial.

I like your perspective. I’m just such a fan of dials that have layers, dimensions, 2 and 3 dimensional elements creating something beautiful.
