1970s Benrus Techni-Quartz Digital Watch with Red LED Crystal Display

  • Case: 35.4mm wide; 13.2mm thick; 42.0mm lug to lug

  • Gold-plated base metal case and bezel (brushed); stainless steel case back; acrylic crystal

  • Original gold-plated signed Stainless Steel bracelet (19.0mm lugs, 24.5mm at the lugs to 15.0mm at the clasp-brushed)

  • Module: Benrus Techni-Quartz with stick LED display; Benrus’ simple answer to a quartz movement during the “Great Quartz Watch Race”, in which they took their traditional Swiss ETA movement (used in their mechanical watches) and “modified” it to accomodate a Motorola of USA electronic module. Early versions retained the slots where the mainspring and balance of a mechanical watch would normally be located.

  • Demand button at 2 o’clock: 1st press-hours/minutes, 1st press continued-flashing seconds; demand button at 8 o’clock: 1st press-month/date; set button at 3 o’clock: time/date set
