Hand alignment support

Hi gang, I just noticed that the hour hand on my mini tuna isnt aligned at the top of the hour and it’s driving me crazy. I imagine it happened when I had the crystal replaced. It’s been months and I don’t feel like going to a shop and want to try to repair myself.

I’ve got the caseback off and the crown out but for some reason the movement isn’t coming out like other watches. Am I doing something wrong here or is this tuna perhaps a front loader?

Thanks for the help!

Hi, do a search on youtube for "seiko tuna solar mod" and you will find how to remove the movement. It comes out from the back.

But I would rather advise not to do it yourself, especially not by just pushing the hour hand around without removing it. It is possible that actually the minutes hand is out of position. They should all be removed and correctly replaced. Not taking care may result in the date not changing at midnight, or even damaging the gearing.

The only correct fix is to remove the hands and reset them.

Agree, my trouble is that the movement isn’t coming out of the back, as if it’s pressed into place rather than just seated.

You might be able to gently wedge the movement out with a small screw driver.

I’ll give it a shot, thanks!

it has no date so just put both hands back on pointing to the 12 position. If it was a date model you would stop setting the time when the date roles over and put hands at 12 then. Second hand doesn't really matter where. Protect the dial with plastic before prying hands up first.

careful careful. I totally agree with you as that would bother me endlessly now that I see it. Please let us know how it goes for you.

was definitely careful but not as much as I could have been had I had the correct tools. But it's all aligned now and ticking away without issue!
