That's extremely interesting. Had this been in your family for awhile?
Hi David. No, I purchased it two years ago from a retiring watchmaker. The 7016 vertical clutch column wheel chronograph is a special movement made by the Daini factory. Amazing engineering at the time, as the Swiss were also racing to manufacture a commercially available chrono. Seiko did well in this three way race. Some good Youtube vids out there on the history of the 7016. These are harder to come by than the 6139/8 chronos.

That's very interesting, I'll check YouTube for videos on the 7016, thanks so much. 😊

Pleasure David. I rather like this vid. Seiko 7016 - Could this be the best mechanical Chronograph up to $5.000? - YouTube

This is the one I watched. 👍
I started following this guy.
He has a great narration quality, that seems to make the best YouTubers.
What a beauty! The square case contrasts well with the sub dial and the minute track. 🥳
