Random Thought: Liquid Glass

Just wondering what people think about this: if you applied liquid glass to a new watch, do you think that it would make the watch glass more scratch resistant than it already is?

Most watches have either mineral glass or synthetic sapphire, but with an extra coat of liquid glass, would that "level up" the protection?

My hesitation is that I don't have any "junk watches" to test it on. I wouldn't want to test an unknown on one of my good watches.

Good question. You think it would help. But are there other coatings on certain mineral crystal that might react to the mineral glass? I'll follow your post.

Cheers!

You'd be right in thinking it would add to the protection, but I'd be careful about using it,here's my thoughts, it's wether it would adere to the surface of the glass properly and be long lasting. If it doesn't it could flake off in places and look a mess and if it does scratch how will it look (I think again a mess), it probably won't be as hard as the glass it's coating so will scratch more easily, and might be a sod to remove. Might be worth an experiment though and if anyone is up for it maybe buy a low cost replacement glass off ebay to try it out on.
