Glad to see this conversation finally going public…but even he was too generous. I’m not saying there aren’t great Swiss watches, and I’m not saying SOME watches branded as Swiss aren’t actually (mostly) made there, but people who consider “Swiss Made” to be an indication of quality or justification for a price has their head buried deeply in the sand.
I think that was the point he was making. Outside of hobbyists, professionals, and pedants people don't understand the two completely different markets.
Not much to learn from this one. I've personally had bad experience (but also good) with either swiss or japan made watches. To be honest, the least disappointing watches I've personally owned and experienced, were the chinese made ones. So yeah, I don't care much about what is written on the dial. Of course I'm referring to affordable watches, high end luxury segment sales are not driven by the "swiss made" writing, that piece of text is obviously meant for the poor.
