WATCH BOXES

What brand of watch boxes is everyone using? I have some inexpensive ones from Amazon that work well. My only concern is the lack of archival materials used in the cheap ones. However, I would suspect that even the more expensive European maker’s don’t make there boxes using archival quality materials. This would apply to the leathers, vinyls, adhesives, etc. . I would highly suspect that non archival glues and materials will break down the gaskets in most any brand time piece. If that happens over time, this could eventually get into the movement of the time piece creating more very expensive issues.

I picked up the Glenor Co from Amazon a few years ago. Has 12 up top and storage lower drawer for straps, bracelets, spare parts, bezels, insets and little tools. Should have been thinking ahead and got the 24 instead of the drawer. Looking for something new...

How do you like your Glenor? I would normally recommend Rothwell because of the build quality and the secure fit of the pillows in their slots (so the watches don't roll around), but the largest they have is a 20 and I need a 24. IIRC Glenor also have a 24 with drawer and a 36.

Its cheaply made and looks alot nicer then it is. I had to gorilla glue the lid hinge on one side, I wouldn't buy another one. I'll definitely check out Rothwell, I'm in need of a new box😉

Thank you, this is very helpful information. I've vacillated over getting one for quite some time now, as the collection has outgrown my Rothwell. Truth be told, the Rothwell is also PU leather over particle board so it may also need gorilla glue in the future. However, it's been sitting on my bathroom counter top and as been solid in the 3 years that I've owned it (I have the 10 slot with drawer). A work-around has been to use a couple of Rothwell 3-slot watch rolls on my bedroom side table. I guess I'll need to continue doing this until Rothwell starts making a 24 (which they say they don't have plans on doing) or if I start trimming the collection...😀
