Hello! I acquired a vintage Citizen Quartz today and I’m wondering what year it is from? I’ve looked up the number on the back and it says June 1976 and 1986 so wondering if it’s a 70s or 80s? I’m guessing 80s but I’m not sure. (Not original strap)
So it’s a 3811 movement which is a 1 jewel movement so at first pass I would agree that 1980s makes more sense.
Their early 1970s quartz movements tended to have higher jewel counts (c.7 jewels which they reduced over time from then).
Also as it was still “new” technology most of the early 1970s Citizen quartz models had “Crystron” showing on the dial as it was exciting and new (see watch on RHS of these three from 1975).

My gut reaction from the dial was 1980s but it’s such a classic case shape and reminded me of this automatic from the 1974 catalogue that I couldn’t be sure.

If you share a picture of the back it will help as that will indicate the movement number and help with the dating.

Thank you so much, really helpful information!

Here’s a look at what it should look like inside.
