I'm not going to squint to read that article. It's about time we got over the faux austerity of ferrous alloys and got back to gold. Besides, you can just buff or reshape with your fingernails.

I know gold is a soft metal. It just seems like buffing would lose a lot of material

Gold is for a genteel life, that's part of the appeal. It's like a pressed white shirt or shiny shoes or the tan trench coat - the ability to maintain the appearance is a status symbol in itself.

The fact that some microns of material will literally dust off is of negligible consequence unless one is one of these sharp edge fetishists with an inept polisher.

Now the back of a bracelet will likely get some wear. Nobody looks there.

Interesting, I still have a pile of 80s GQ magazines in my bookcase, they are too many and heavy to toss with the weekly paper recycling. Gold is softer than SS, small scratches are more easily removed with polishing cloths etcetera.
