Breitling Superocean 42

Can anybody with a current gen Breitling Superocean 42 provide any input on how they like the watch?  Recently watched a review by YoureTerrific (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xp4FkzGhlgc) and am absolutely smitten from afar.

Held one in hand recently definitely great build quality, great for the person who wants something other than a bb58 and isn’t a movement snob.

Exactly my thoughts.  I do like the BB58 from afar but growing tired of the vintage trend.  This Superocean 42 is the antithesis.

I love Breitling and I own a 42mm Colt. Their finishing, dial, hands, crystal are fantastic. When you hold them in your hand you get a sensation of a luxury product. You cannot go wrong in that respect.

However, I was, and will be very careful about picking one for “my wrist”. With Breitling, I cannot recommend enough trying the exact size model in person before buying it. Breitling watches often have large bezel to dial ratio. This could produce a bold look but it could also present a problem. When I was trying them in store I was often oscillating between: oh, this dial looks too small (42- mm) to: no, this case feels too large and heavy for daily use (43+ mm). I have around 7” wrist and ended up buying 42 mm Colt with gray/steel color scheme which reduces the contrast between the dial and the bezel. This makes the entire front appears as one visual element thus preventing the dial look too small for my taste. This Superocean, with the blue bezel and dial is likely going to have the same visual effect. Either way, I would strongly suggest trying it on the wrist before paying.

Thank you, this is helpful advice.  The lug-to-lug (50 mm) is worrisome to the point where I will not buy this sight unworn.  My daily wear is typically 46-47 mm but I've read that the Superocean curves significantly over the wrist.  Will it curve enough is the big question. Time willing, I will pop by the AD this week.

Beautiful watches.  They look richer in the metal than most of the obvious choices in their price range.  Definitely go in and try a few on - I doubt you'll be disappointed.
