My everyday “beater watch” is actually a decent timepiece

I bought this Timex expedition Acadia 4 years ago. I use it almost daily at my manual labor job, it’s been out hunting/hiking. Washed my car, showered with it, gardening you name it. Just recently changed the battery and it keeps on ticking. While not a head turner, it keep’s excellent time and the resin case has held up amazingly. In fact other than occasional poly watch on the crystal it still looks newish. I swapped out the original Velcro strap for a NATO strap. Not a bad deal for $60 bux.

Timex still "Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'" Very cool. I think many folks tend to value a watch according to what it costs rather than its capabilities. But you really can't beat a watch that is durable, accurate, and appeals to your eye. The fact that it only set ya back so little cash is a great bonus!

How friggin long has the Expedition line been around? I swear I had one over 30 years ago, and it was a fine daily choice back then too.

I got this version through my employer's employee appreciation points program. It keeps excellent time, has been running solidly for nearly four years with the battery with which it was delivered and (IMHO) it looks really good. The resin case makes a great argument for polymer/ceramic construction with its light weight and durability, along with the reduced cost of materials. These are great watches and don't get the respect or consideration that they deserve! Great share!!
