Shout out to @Morgy29407 for the trade! I sent him over a Tudor Northflag and he sent me this Oris Big Crown Pro Pilot + cash. Absolutely surprised how much I like this simple pilot watch. The canvas strap is really thick and feels great. The buckle is definitely cool. Overall really nice watch.

Yeah these are great! This very model was my back-up purchase had my Sinn 556A RS fallen through*, and I would have definitely been happy with it. I still considered buying it once or twice later (though in a blue dial since I had my black Sinn) but eventually landed on the Pro Pilot X Calibre 400 instead. But I still love the "non-X" Pro Pilots too!

*the longer story: ordered my 556a at the start of Feb 2022 and was expecting it to take about 3 months to be built and send over from Germany. Then, about a week before it was due to arrive at my AD, the dealer suffered a fire in their building that totaled the building and most of the stuff they had inside. For a week or two I didn't know if my watch had arrived and been sacrificed to the incident, and if not, how they were going to receive it and get it to me while dealing with their catastrophic incident. So, I did a little cross-shopping "just in case". Turned out fine, Sinn actually heard about the fire and got the shipment back from the shipping company and held it until it could all be sorted. And the owner/operator (great guy) went out of his way to meet me at a temporary working space for the delivery once it made it over the pond. Great experience in the end and no regrets.
