Why we wear watches for ourselves

The Nomos World Timer is my travel watch when traveling through and to different time zones. It's really a great watch for this purpose. It is very easy to switch to the current time with just a push of the button. It is also light, slim, and in my opinion, looks great.

As the title says, we wear our watches for ourselves. Meaning most non watch people have no idea of these mechanical marvels and what they are about. While on a flight a lady next to me said that my watch looked "neat". She said remember the old Sky Mall magazine on planes? Then she remarked that my watch looked like it could be a high end watch from the magazine. She meant this as a complement.

I did not tell her that this watch would never had been in Sky Mall! I did show her how the watch changed the time to match the time zone that you were in and where the home time is located. She seemed to think that was interesting and we had a good rest of the flight talking about various other things.

One of the cleanest GMTs there is! Making me miss mine. (I traded in my white one with the original HEIMAT marking for a GS. Silly silly me). Did you ever see the Talking Hands review of this watch? https://youtu.be/6trSlfDM1Do?si=y2rEVsrP0aJl9kGx

Speaking of SkyMall, I have to confess that seeing a really dressy Raymond Weil in an airline magazine was partially responsible for kicking off my obsession, er, interest in more expensive watches, even though the particular RW was a quartz.

Love the movement, personally I prefer the tangente worldtimer, but the Zürich has its appeal :-)
