Here’s the new strap I’ve chosen for my Antique watch

A lot of people would say that I chose the wrong strap for this vintage/antique 1929 Square B Hamilton but wait and see the outcome. It’s not going to be a round headed strap. It’ll be custom made for my watch only. I wanted a bund style strap to somewhat protect the case from damage.

Thank you! I know it’s a bit of a reach. Even my wife thinks I’m crazy but when it gets here next week we will see.

Help me understand the thinking here. Do you mean protect it from perspiration or somehow guard against accidental grazing?

Yes, I’m planning on wearing it quite a bit and don’t want to dent it because this hundred year old metal is very thin. Plus this new bund strap is made of vegetable leather and will age with wearing. Again it will not be round but more rectangular or square, like the watch itself.

I’m a big fan of bund straps and salute your decision, I have been considering putting a vintage Seamaster on a bund to bulk it up on my wrist (it feels a bit small) HOWEVER, bund straps can and will trap abrasive dust/grit etc between the watch and the bund, which WILL scratch the back of your watch if you don’t keep an eye on it. Just something to consider my friend 👍

Well thank you for that! Something I have not considered but will keep an eye on it now.👍
