Update on the Khaki field!

So yesterday i posted about a problem that i had with my Khaki. Thank you everyone for the help and advice about it. Today i wanted to bring the watch to a service center but unfortunately, it was closed. I kept it on a watch winder, wore it for no more than 30min this afternoon and decided to take a look again at the mechanism. Maybe it was stupid or wreckless, but I took my chances and rotated one time the crown in order to check if, while winding it, makes the same noise + “helicoptering” of the rotor. To my surprise, it was smooth and had the same nice noise, just like when i got it.

I’ll anyway to the service center to make sure everything is ok and as you mentioned, maybe they’ll lube the reversing wheel.

Thank you all again for the info and help!

I didn’t see your post yesterday, but I had a watch with a Miyota movement do the same thing after 7 or 8 years of regular use. However, it wouldn’t back drive the rotor until it was about half wound. So in the morning it would work fine. Part way through the day it would let loose and rotor would spin like crazy. Never did have it repaired, but I’m guessing it would be cheaper to just replace the movement.

I'm no expert, but if it was just the winding of the stem that moved the rotor and not the main spring driving the rotor around, it seems plausible that something got lodged in a wheel somewhere and kept it from moving as it should until it dislodged before you tried it again today. You might get lucky, and the only thing wrong is some piece of debris inside the movement that someone could find and remove. That or it could be damaged wheels somewhere, possibly caused by debris. I don't know the pricing, so maybe replacing the movement is just the better way to go. I guess just take it in and see what they find.
