Big, Goofy, Fun

During the replace under warranty process for an unfortunately defective example*, I was asking myself what the attraction of this particular watch is for me.

It’s inexpensive. It’s unique. It doesn’t really make much sense. But it’s big and goofy and fun and I really like wearing it. (It does wear really really well despite odd dimensions.)

Then I realized…it’s the Golden Retriever of my watch world!

*To their credit, Spinnaker replaced the watch, refunded the spurious repair and shipping charges and threw in another strap for my troubles.

You think that one makes no sense, try the Wreck

No idea why…

Yes, but faux-patina sees me burnt at the stake as a warlock.

Sometimes even a vintage-head just wants to fake it. Too many vintage skin divers with sh*t pin-pallet movements and I wanted something “new” that looked like it got dragged under a barge… until I read about your service hell with the brand. Now I’m the one who needs keelhauling.

No one will punish you (except yourself, perhaps. 🤔) Go easy on yourself and enjoy that watch. It is quite cool.

I think my service experience was unusual and Spinnaker (Dartmouth Brands) did make things right. Was I annoyed? Sure. But it wasn’t exactly “hell.”
