Omega speedmaster 57 from 2022; or Zenith chronomaster sport-Which chrono should I buy?

I honestly love both of these watches, but only have enough funds for one; which one should I get?

Speedy '57..

It's a beautiful watch from a prestigious watch maker, and Georgy Clooney gets paid to wear one.

On a more serious note, I do prefer the look of the '57. It seems classier, while still sporty.

'57. Not even close.

I really like the look of the 57, especially the red one. The Chronomaster is cool, so I would not fault you for going that way as well.

57. Tried one on recently and fell in love with it. Having tried a Zenith too, the Omega definitely felt more worthy of the price tag.

My feeling is that all collectors should aim to have a Speedmaster as there first luxury chronograph. Definitely can't go wrong with the new 57s. They are beautiful. Only dilemma - which colour? 😀

Which of the 2 would you strap on more often if you had both in your collection? I guess the one you strap on most would be the one. Perhaps think about which one complements your collection better? Follow your heart, i am sure either choice will bring you joy and laughter. Cheers!

Fan of the 57!  IMO the 57 is the more attractive watch. The Zenith, is also attractive and technically superior. As I’m considering my first Chrono in that price range, the Zenith was 4th on my list.

Probably the midnight blue for the speedy 57.

I have some convoluted thinking with regard to the choice:

  • If I were going to keep the watch for forever, and then hand it down to my great-great-great grandchildren, I would go with the Speedy '57.  The co-axial architecture addresses the #1 failure mode of mechanical watches, which is oil degradation.  The traditional lever escapement has friction points, and the friction heats up the lubricants, and heat and friction cause the lubricants to degrade much more quickly than they would otherwise.  The co-axial architecture, however, does not have that issue, and as a result, conceivably, co-axial Omegas should provide owners with lifetime service-free ownership!

  • If I were just going to keep the watch for a little while, I would choose the Zenith Chronomaster Sport, because...

Currently looking for my first Chrono, I’d be interested to know what’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd on your list

I bought an Omega Speedmaster Professional sapphire. I love it!

I highly considered a Navitimer and the Speedmaster 57.
